Reflective posters

Series of six posters created to encourage viewers to learn from the experiences of elders and reflect on how they would like to be remembered.

In my diploma project, I wanted to remind viewers that one day, each of us will reach what we call “old age.” In everyday life, we rarely stop to ask ourselves: Am I truly fulfilled with the life I’m living now? Will what I’m doing today benefit me in the future? Or am I standing still, without considering other perspectives?

Through my work, I aim to raise awareness that the way we live today shapes the way we will experience old age. This may seem obvious, yet it’s easy to overlook. Of course, not everything can be predicted—unexpected events can turn a life completely around. But it’s not only accidents that define us; it’s also the decisions we make every single day.

The inspiration for this project comes from my voluntary work with the Association Mali Bracia Ubogich, where we support elderly people through presence and conversation. The scope of activities is broad and depends on the needs of those we help. My own involvement focuses on visiting one lady regularly. Listening to her stories—and those of other older people—has helped me better understand their realities, and sometimes even see myself in them. We all face similar challenges and struggles throughout life, no matter our age.

With this work, I want to invite viewers to find pieces of themselves in the life stories of the elderly.
